Discover why 56,000 students visit the Mint per year!
We offer free one hour tours to groups of 10 to 60 participants. If you want to visit with a larger group you will have to book more than one tour time. Please contact our Booking Team for assistance.
Weekday group bookings will receive a free guided tour. Your guide will show you a short DVD about how coins are made then help you discover some interesting facts about the history of coins in Australia. You'll learn about how coins are designed before looking out into the factory where they are made.
At the end of the tour you will have an opportunity to make a legal commemorative $1 coin for the cost of $3 in the Mint Coin shop.
Weekend group bookings are self-guided.
We recommend groups allow one hour for their visit. During that time you can watch a 15 minute DVD about how coins are made, look at items in the National Coin Collection, observe the factory from the observation windows and use touchscreens to find out more about the production process. You can also visit the Mint Shop to mint a legal commemorative $1 coin for the cost of $3.
On weekends the Mint conducts free public tours. If you are a small group (up to 20 participants) you may join one of these tours. More information is available More information is available here.
